Designing a cartoon-style mermaid
Introduction Hello Everyone! I'm Edgar Covarrubias, otherwise known as Curly-Artist, and today I'm going to show you how I go about designing a mermaid intended for a watercolor illustration. I'm best known as an artist who draws cartoony illustrative mermaids (as well as other things). So if this is something that piques your interest or you are just curious about the work process then I hope this tutorial finds you well. Tools Although a lot of my mermaid work looks traditional I actually do all of my work digitally. I personally use a Wacom Cintiq with Photoshop CS6 along with “Kyle's Real Watercolor brushes”, (which should now be available to anyone who's using Photoshop CC). This doesn't mean you also have to use the same tools as I do. All you need is any decent drawing tablet and any digital art program that can mimic watercolors. Clip Studio Paint & Procreate can use watercolor brushes very convincingly as well. Let's Get Started Step 1 Let's start with designing a
